Is FHA The Next Big Bailout?

I saw a rather disturbing news clip in Bloomberg yesterday. It referenced FHA Home Loans and the possibility that they may need a bailout. It seems that FHA Mortgage Insurer is leveraged to about 30 to 1. This the same dangerous level where some of the big banks were before they collapsed. So what this means is that for every $30 in mortgage insurance issued by FHA, they have $1 to back it up to pay any claims. Not good. On top of that, Congress just past raising the loan limits on FHA loans to $729,650. So they are going to insure more loans at higher limits. Hmmmm The only good thing about this one, FHA can just go over to the treasury department and tell them to print more money and hand it over! Do you think this is right?
