Now let's move on to the programs offered in this state.
The State of Missouri does offer a Missouri first time home buyer grant program for its residents. This is good news because not all states are able to offer assistance to first time home buyers.
The state agency which maintains Missouri's first time home buyer grant program is the Missouri Housing Development Commission. Missouri currently offers one type of grant.
This grant is called the "Cash Assistance Payment" or "CAP". This grant can provide cash assistance of up to 4.5% of the loan amount. These monies are to be used for the down payment or closing costs.
Another program that may be helpful to those who have the down payment and closing costs saved, is the "Non Cash Assistance Payment" or "Non CAP." This program provides a lower interest rate for first time home buyers.
Depending on your personal situation, you may want to consider these programs. Of course there are qualifications and limitations you will have to contemplate, but a great option for the residents of this state who meet the standards.
Here's another awesome option, the "MCC Stand Alone" provides a tax credit for those who qualify. We all want to save money, so be sure to investigate this program as well.
For more information, you should visit Missouri Housing Development Commission website.
Keep in mind that the grant or unique program processes can be very time consuming, so be patient and allow yourself plenty of time to complete the process.
The federal government also offers grant assistance for first time home buyers in Mississippi. You can find what is offered through the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and is called the Homes and Communities program.
They have a website that contains a ton of useful information and applications. You can find their website for the grant program maintained by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development by using this link, HUD Grant Information.
While doing your search, another website I would recommend that you view is Government Grants. This particular website provides a list of all federal government grant programs. I would suggest taking some time and look this site to see what it offers and the qualifications for application.
