A grant is like receiving a gift of money all tied up in a bow.

• The Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce advertises an annual Apple Harvest Day. This event is for the whole family and consists of entertainment, rides, games and a craft show.

• The annual New Hampshire Farm & Forest Exposition is a must see! This event has been in existence since 1984 and has been named "New Hampshire's Greatest Winter Fair."

• The Stark Fiddler's Contest is held the last Sunday in June and begins at noon, rain or shine. This is a family event.

• If you like seafood, you might try to get to the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. This event is advertised by the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce.

• The New Hampshire's motto is "Live Free or Die".

First Time Home Buyer Grants New Hampshire

To begin with, the State of New Hampshire does offer a New Hampshire first time home buyer grant program for its residents. This is good news because not all states are able to offer assistance to first time home buyers.

The state agency which maintains New Hampshire's first time home buyer grant program is New Hampshire Housing. New Hampshire offers one first time home buyer grant. This grant is called the "Single Family Mortgage Program". This grant can provide "up to 4% of the first mortgage amount. This is a free gift to you to provide that you don't sell your home within 48 months." You should visit the New Hampshire website. to determine your eligibility.

In addition, the federal government offers grant assistance for first time home buyers in New Hampshire. This program is maintained by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and is called the Homes and Communities program.

Another website I would recommend that you view is the Government Grants. This website offers a list of all federal government grant programs. It would be a good idea to take some time and browse through this site to see what it offers and the qualifications for application.
