Qualifying As 1st Time Home Buyer

by Dan V.
(Franklin, NY)

My wife bought a townhouse in Virgina before we were married (~2006). We have since moved to New York State. Do we qualify as a first time home buyers so we can take advantage of any programs related to that status??

=====ANSWER=====

Hi Dan,

Thank you so much for stopping by my website and leaving me a question.

You left out a detail here. You did not mention if you sold the house in Virgina. I will assume that you did since you moved to New York.

If the new house that you want to buy together will become your new primary residence, then yes you can get into the first time home buyer programs.

You will indeed find an abundance of great programs out there for you. Of course the absolute best one would be the FHA Home Loan. You may want to pay a visit to my page best FHA home loans for more information.

The FHA home loan will allow you to get into the home with only 3.5% down and your credit score can be as low as 620.

Now there are other qualifications to meet like employment history, debt to income and such, but overall this is by far the best way to buy an house today. In fact I just heard a report on Fox News last night that the FHA loans are about the only mortgages that have any action as far as the mortgage industry goes.

Furthermore, you can use grants and down payment assistance programs with this mortgage product.

I hope you find this helpful. If you do, I really would appreciate it if you would be so kind to like this web page at FaceBook or shout it out at Tweeter.

Kind Regards,

Jeffrey Ragan
