I decided to venture into the magical world of home buying in May 2009. It seemed like the correct time to buy a house. I usually do a lot of research online before any purchase, so you can just imagine how much research I did before deciding the preferred location.
I contacted a real estate agent, who helped define the exact search area for the home. After visiting over 30 houses, and having two offers rejected, I decided to change the approach. Now, not only would I do research online for available listings, but also drive by desired neighborhoods looking for THE ONE! This way I found my future home.
I found the best house that fit my needs for space, condition and location. The house had gone for sale the exact same day I drove by it. After scheduling an appointment, I saw it that same day and, I had an offer in it instantly! The only problem; it was a short sale! Oh man, that can be a pain!
I waited 10 long months, for the deal to happen. In the meantime, I saw about 100 more houses. Unfortunately, never found one that met the standards set by the one I had the short sale offer on.
My advice to any new home buyer, have patience! You may find your dream house very quickly, but you may also find it really hard to find everything you are looking for on a house and in your price range.
In the end, know and be sure that whatever house you end up buying, IS perfect for you. Everyone told me this before I finally closed on my new home and I did not believe them. But now that I found it, I can testify that in fact, it will be PERFECT for you!
