In March 2009, my husband and I decided to look for a house. We were tired of our cramped, 1-bed 1-bath apartment. We looked at many houses. Came close on a few to getting a contract signed, but no luck.
Bank of America made quite a few mistakes when we were trying to get into our first home, we wound up loosing the contract and they had to refund us over $3000 in earnest money. We found out in August of 2009 that I was pregnant. This made us buckle down even more to find a house.
House after house came and went with no luck. We had gotten to the point where we would take almost anything. We bid on a few fixer-uppers, and fortunately, we did not get those.
In May 2010, a month after our daughter was born, we found our home. Everything came together just in time to benefit from the tax credit deadline. We were counting on the tax credit to make everything work.
Our house is a four-year-old 3-bed, 2-bath, starter home perfect for a family just starting out. When we decide to have a second child, we'll have to find something bigger, but for now, it is home and is wonderful.
The neighborhood is so peaceful and quiet. The back yard is not huge, but is big enough for our daughter to run around in when she gets a little older. I can't thank our Realtor enough for finding us this home. She never let us give up hope even when we were ready to.
