When you're buying your first home in Alabama, there are some special programs that can help you. But what if you owned a home in the past? Are you disqualified?
That depends on how long in the past you owned a home. If it has been longer than three years, you are considered a first time home buyer again!
So if you happened to go through a bankruptcy or a short sale and you have waited the necessary time to improve your credit, you can qualify for those first time home buyer programs again.
Usually they help you with down payment and closing costs, but you can also find lower interest programs. Of course, every state is different, thus you will need to see what's available in your state.
I have a special page for programs in Alabama and a link on that page to the housing authority for this state. We try to make it as easy as possible for you to find what you need!
Check out our home buyer programs page for a detailed explanation.
As a first time home buyer, you may want to investigate the various FHA Loan products to find which one fits your needs the best.
