My husband and I are currently in the process of buying our first home. Buying our first home is not nearly as simple as it sounds! A lot goes into buying a home.
We fell in love with this home the moment we did a walk through, and 3 months later we still are not moved into our new house. However, it is now officially ours.
A lot of things went haywire while going through the process of buying this home, not really wrong, just a little off the path we had hoped. First no one would finance us for this home as in Michigan, like most states here in the US, the economy is taking loans on a case by case situation now.
Our case was not picture perfect. We did get a co-signer and still our dreams were sinking away from us faster than we could hold on. This was our dream home though and we were not willing to let go so easily.
We worked day and night at fixing our credit scores and worked with bank, after bank, credit unions and anyone we could think of to get a home mortgage. After almost a year's fight, we finally got financed for our first home.
We are all set to move in next month and more excited we could not be! Of course now we are broke, and cannot afford new furniture but we are happy in our new home. We are just basically living on love until we can get back on our feet!!
Whatever you do, don't give up, it is worth the fight to buy that first home!
