As a first time home buyer in the Philippines, you want to do your homework.
Of course, any Philippine citizens can purchase property. But all others may not be able to. If you have dual citizenship, you may qualify.
Whenever you are planning to purchase in another country and you do not have citizenship, it is a good idea to find out the requirements. You don't want to go through the process and find out later you spent money on something you really cannot own.
There are a few exceptions. For example, you may be able to own a condominium unit. The exception is the land has to be owned by the condominium association.
By purchasing the condo, you should become a member of the association that owns the land. There is a limit on how much ownership you can have. There are also taxes and fees that will have to be paid.
But if you are a natural citizen, purchasing is not that difficult. Even still, you don't want to go into a purchase without gaining all the information you can on the area, the fees included in the purchase, and what taxes may be required.
Owning your own home is an exciting venture. Do your homework to make it a smooth and pleasant adventure!
